Lakewood Golf & Country Club

Rules

Sports Rules

General

 

1.              Use of all sports facilities will be at the individuals own risk.

2.              All members and guests are required to register and pay appropriate fees.

3.              The immediate family of a member shall have the right to use those club facilities to which the member is entitled by his/her membership classification. (Immediate family includes the member’s spouse and unmarried sons and daughters under the age of 26 years).

4.              Only liquor and food purchased from and served by the club may be consumed on club premises.

Golf Course Rules

1.              Practice – Use and Care of the Greens; Courtesy and Respect

A.            Practice on the golf course is not permitted. Practice shall be limited to the driving range, putting green and the chipping area adjacent to the south side of the pro house.

B.             Please repair ball marks and replace divots.

C.             The Golf Professional and/or Greens Superintendent will restrict or eliminate play on any or the entire course (including practice areas) when necessary for maintenance or to prevent damage.

D.            When specifically authorized by the Board of Directors, the course may be closed to open play in order to accommodate scheduled special events.

E.             Appropriate shoes (no metal spikes) will be worn on all areas of the golf course including practice green.

F.             Players having one or more holes open in front of them must defer to faster players.

G.            Dress code is as follows: no tank tops, no tee shirts, only appropriate golf attire will be permitted on the course.

H.            Groups of more than four players will be permitted only at the discretion of the Pro or after 5:00pm on weekends. Such groups must defer to faster players.

I.               Club members residing along the fairways may begin play near their home only if fairways, tees and greens on the hole ahead and behind point of starting are clear. Members starting as above will register when passing golf shop.

J.              Permission is needed from golf shop to start on #10 or #7.

K.            Scheduled hours for the golf shop will be posted in the newsletter and the clubhouse. The golf shop will be closed on Mondays. The golf course is available for play on Mondays; however, part or all of the course may be closed occasionally for specific maintenance activities. Note: Normal hours may be modified for special events by approval of the Board of Directors.

L.             Play on Mondays is from 12:00 noon till dusk.

2.              Guest Rules

A.            Guest fees are:

1.         18 holes:          Weekdays-$25.00

                                    Weekends & Holidays-$35.00

2.         9 Holes:           Weekdays-$20.00

                                    Weekends & Holidays-$25.00

3.         Family Guest:  $10.00

4.         House Guest:  $15.00

5.         House Guest Weekly Rate:     $40.00

B.             Special golf events sponsored by business or charity organizations and which are open to non-members or the general public will require a $20.00 fee for non-member participants unless specifically reduced by the Board of Directors. There will be a facilities charge of $5.00 plus tax per participant for special golf events.

C.             Local guests may only use the recreational facilities once each month and then only when accompanied by a member who registers his guest and pays the appropriate fees. Out of town guests and non-resident members of other golf and country clubs (excluding AEDC and Scenic View) may use the facilities by payment of appropriate fees.

3.              Motorized Golf Carts

A.            Policy

1.              The club and/or the professional provide a fleet of golf carts for lease by the members and guests.

2.              Members are authorized to use privately owned carts of approved design in accordance with the regulations outlined below.

3.              Guests may use their privately owned carts by payment of a trail fee of $5.00 per 18 holes.

B.             Operating Rules

1.              Drivers or operators of powered golf carts shall be at least 16 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.

2.              Carts shall abide by the 90 degree rule when approaching landing areas and shall not be driven or parked within 50 yards of greens or tees except on cart paths. Carts may be driven in rough areas when convenient so long as specified distance from greens and tees is maintained. Carts will not leave paths for any reason beyond the white lines marked on paths in areas approaching greens. Carts must stay on cart paths on all par 3 holes. Carts are limited to two passengers and two bags. Rental carts will not be reserved. See professional for details of rental carts.

3.              Cart operators are responsible for damage inflicted on lease carts and are responsible for damages inflicted on the golf course or other club property resulting from their use of either leased or private carts.

4.              The greens committee and/or the professional may restrict the use of carts to cart path only under conditions where turf and grounds may be damaged.

C.             Privately Owned Carts

1.              Approved carts will be limited to commercially available vehicles that are designed specifically as golf carts. Carts must be electric type; may be three or four wheeled; shall be equipped with low profile terra tires having a minimum size of 8:50x8.

2.              Private carts shall be maintained in safe operating condition. Brakes, steering and throttle controls should be checked periodically to ensure that the operator can maintain control of the cart at all times.

3.              Private carts must be registered in the office showing make, name of owner and eligible operators.

4.              Private carts will not be loaned to other members or guests. The registered owner or a member of his immediate family must operate carts.

D.            Storage and Parking

1.              The club has a limited number of parking spaces available for private carts. Owners may apply to the office for assignment of a parking space. Assignments will be made in the order they are received.

2.              Available parking spaces may be leased for a minimum period of one year. Lease rates are established by the Board of Directors and are payable in advance on a yearly basis. Lease period will coincide with the dues period.

3.              Owners are responsible for installing their charger and all parking, service and charging operations. Owner is also responsible for keeping his parking space clean and free of extraneous materials and litter.

4.              Parking of golf carts at the main entrance to the clubhouse is prohibited at all times.

Swimming Pool Rules

1.              Pool Hours

A.            The pool will be open Tuesday through Sunday from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Scheduled hours for the pool will be posted in the newsletter and the clubhouse.

B.             On inclement days the pool manager has the authority to close the pool at his/her discretion.

2.              Safety Rules

A.            Do not run in pool area.

B.             Do not push or throw anyone in the pool.

C.             No boisterous or rough play or objectionable language shall be permitted.

D.            Be considerate and do not excessively splash or dunk anyone. Be careful when jumping; be sure that no persons are in your path.

E.             The lifeguard has been instructed to send away from the pool area any person(s) who fail to observe these rules and such action may cause suspension of pool privileges.

3.              Other Rules

A.            Every person entering the pool area is required to sign the register.

B.             Authority for the safe and proper operation of the pool and enforcement of the rules is vested in the club manager and pool staff. Any person interfering with the enjoyment or jeopardizing the safety of others may have their swimming privileges suspended.

C.             A snack bar adjoining the pool will be available to all swimmers. Each person using the snack bar must help to keep the area clean.

D.            No food or beverage shall be permitted within the pool area except that which is provided through the pool facilities. Such food or beverage must be consumed within the prescribed area.

E.             No glass containers of any kind may be permitted in the pool area.

F.             No dogs or other animals except service animals will be permitted in the pool area.

G.            Persons with a severe head cold, open cuts, sores, athletes foot, infection or any contagious disease will not be permitted in the pool.

H.            Bathers are permitted only in the restrooms beside pool entrance and should not enter any other portion of the clubhouse.

I.               The lifeguards will take periodic ten-minute breaks. During these said breaks, everyone will exit the pool and will return when guard sounds whistle.

J.              All swimmers must wear suitable swimming apparel as determined by lifeguards. No one may swim in clothes they have worn to play golf or tennis.

4.              Who May Use The Pool

A.            All members in good standing, together with their spouses and unmarried minors living in the household of such members are eligible to use the swimming pool during pool hours, subject to special provisions below.

B.             Children of eligible members under the age of 8 who are not competent swimmers are permitted to use the main pool only when they are accompanied by one or more of their parents, adult members of their family or caretaker, who must be in the water with the child at all times and be responsible for the child’s safety.

C.             Nonswimming children of eligible members are permitted to use the wading pool if supervised in the wading pool area by a parent, adult member of their family or caretaker, who will be responsible for their safety at all times.

5.              Guest Privileges and Fees

A.            Local guests are permitted once per week upon payment of guest fees. Responsible babysitters may accompany children to the pool daily without guest fees.

B.             Pool guest fees will be $5.00 plus tax per day. House guests and grandchildren fees will be $2.50 plus tax per day.

6.              Lessons

A.            Lessons will be given by the lifeguards for swimming instruction.

B.             Payment for these lessons will be paid directly to the instructor. Fees are to be negotiated in advance.

7.              Swim Parties

A.            Application for swim parties must have prior approval of the club manager under the following condition.

B.             Rental for swimming parties shall be based upon number of participants and can be obtained from the office.

Tennis Rules

1.              Operating Rules

A.            Tennis courts will be open from 8:00am until 11:00pm.

2.              Guests

A.            Local guests are permitted once per week upon payment of guest fees.

B.             Guest fee is $7.50 plus tax per day. House guests and grandchildren are $5.00 plus tax per day. Payment of fees may be made at the club office or golf shop.

3.              Tennis Rules

A.            Tennis courts will be closed to all play after 11:00pm. Members who use the court in the evening will be responsible for extinguishing lights after play is complete. Note: Lights must be turned of by 11:00pm.

B.             When specifically authorized by the Board of Directors, the tennis courts may be closed to open play in order to accommodate scheduled special events.

C.             Appropriate tennis attire including shirts must be worn at all times.

D.            Play is limited, when others are waiting, to the best two (2) out of three (3) sets with tiebreakers or one hour whichever is greater.

E.             Food is not allowed within the fenced area.

F.             Those waiting for court time must wait outside the fenced area.

G.            Regulation tennis shoes must be worn at all times.

H.            Reserved time for ladies, men or mixed doubles may be established by the tennis committee and posted at the courts.

I.               Children under 14 years of age must yield the courts after 5:00om on weekdays and after 2:00pm on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Children under 10 years of age are not permitted unless accompanied and supervised by a parent or other responsible adult.

J.              Courts will be locked. Keys are available at the golf shop, club office and lounge. Keys must be signed for and returned.

Rules Governing Clubhouse

1.              Hours

A.            Scheduled operating hours of the clubhouse will be posted in the newsletter and in the clubhouse.

2.              Guests

A.            Guests accompanied by a member may use the club facilities at any time during normal hours of operation. However, no member shall invite as a guest any person whose privileges the club has revoked or who has been rejected for membership.

3.              Private Entertainment

A.            Any member may arrange use of specific portions of the clubhouse for a private party. Private parties hosted and paid for or sponsored by a member may be scheduled with the club manager. All food and beverages must be purchased from the club.

4.              Proper Attire

A.            Bathing suits are not permitted in the clubhouse area or the golf shop. Golf and tennis attire shall be appropriate and shirts will be worn at all times. Participants shall wear appropriate golf and tennis shoes.

5.              Minors

A.            No minors (under age 18) will be allowed in the bar/lounge area with the following two exceptions: 1. When the main dining rooms are occupied and the lounge becomes the designated dining room for the club. 2. Minors will be allowed to order take out food to eat elsewhere. The Board may make an exception to the age for certain functions.

6.              Broken or Defaced Equipment and Furniture

A.            The member is responsible for unwarranted breakage or defacement of club property and shall be pecuniary responsible. Any failure to respond will be referred to the Board of Directors. Action by the Board of Directors will be final.

7.              Pets

Pets are not permitted in the clubhouse.

8.              Member’s Property and Equipment

The club will not be responsible for loss or damage to personal articles or equipment belonging to members or guests.

9.              Liquor and Food

Only such purchases as are from and served by the club can be consumed on club premises.

10.           Service Areas

Members or their guests are not permitted at any time to enter the kitchen area or areas behind the bar.

11.           Parking

Parking of any vehicle including golf carts and bicycles at the entrance in front of the clubhouse is prohibited at all times.

12.           Cancellation of Special Club Events

Cancellation of reservations must be made no later than four (4) hours prior to the event. If the required cancellation is not made, the following conditions will apply: 1st offense-warning; 2nd offense-cancellation fee will be charged. Special club events are defined as any event where the regular menu is not offered.

13.           Dining Reservations

Members dining pleasure depends primarily on arrangements made in advance for proper staffing. We are always prepared to accommodate a limited number of members who do not make a reservation. When this number becomes unexpectedly large, it can affect service and food preparation. Please be on the safe side and try to make your dinner reservations in a way that helps us plan and serve you better.

14.           Clubhouse Hours

Scheduled operating hours of the clubhouse will be posted in the newsletter and in the clubhouse.

15.           Smoking

There is no smoking in the Dogwood Room, Lakefront Room or Golf Shop at any time.

Rules Violations

The Board of Directors will be aggressive to uphold the rules and regulations of Lakewood Golf & Country Club. The following procedure will be used injunction with violators: 1st offense – letter reminding of rules; 2nd offense – a more forceful letter reminding on rules; 3rd offense – fine of $50; 4th offense – suspension of rights and privileges at the club.
